Artwork auctioned at seven times the upper estimate price
When the work Three Bears by Alexander Helwig Wyant was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in January 2020, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - USD 5,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than seven times as high at USD 37,500.00 (€ 33,805.10). Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Alexander Helwig Wyant; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Hudson River View sold at auction in May 2007 with the realized price of USD 84,000.00 (€ 62,439.60).
Kunstwerk zum Siebenfachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Three Bears von Alexander Helwig Wyant im Januar 2020 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – USD 5.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit USD 37.500,00 (€ 33.805,10) mehr als siebenmal so hoch. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Alexander Helwig Wyant; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Hudson River View im Mai 2007 mit dem Hammerpreis von USD 84.000,00 (€ 62.439,60).
