Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Fishing on the Thames at Twickenham by Alexander Frederick Rolfe was auctioned at Christies in London in July 2014, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 1,875.00 (€ 2,364.96). Admittedly, works by Alexander Frederick Rolfe have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Fishing scene at Twickenham in January 2007 with an auction result of GBP 9,600.00 (€ 14,484.20).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Fishing on the Thames at Twickenham von Alexander Frederick Rolfe im Juli 2014 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 1.875,00 (€ 2.364,96) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Alexander Frederick Rolfe auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Fishing scene at Twickenham im Januar 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 9.600,00 (€ 14.484,20).
