In December 2019 Sothebys in London held the auction The Pohl-Ströher Collection of Portrait Miniatures, Part III, which included the work Portrait Of A Gentleman, Circa 1635 by Alexander Cooper. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 7,500.00 (€ 8,864.12), 50% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Alexander Cooper; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Portrait of Prince William V of Hessen-Kassel (1602-1637) sold at auction in December 2020 with the realized price of GBP 8,820.00 (€ 9,852.73).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 50 % übertroffen
Im Dezember 2019 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion The Pohl-Ströher Collection of Portrait Miniatures, Part III durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait Of A Gentleman, Circa 1635 von Alexander Cooper zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 7.500,00 (€ 8.864,12) und damit 50% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Alexander Cooper; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Portrait of Prince William V of Hessen-Kassel (1602-1637) im Dezember 2020 mit dem Hammerpreis von GBP 8.820,00 (€ 9.852,73).
