Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Landscape by Alex Katz was sold in the POST-WAR AND CONTEMPORARY ART auction at Christies in New York in November 2001. The price achieved of USD 12,925.00 (€ 14,428.44) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Alex Katz achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Blue Umbrella I in October 2019 with an auction result of GBP 3,375,000.00 (€ 3,914,757.96).

Die Arbeit Landscape von Alex Katz wurde im November 2001 in der Auktion POST-WAR AND CONTEMPORARY ART bei Christies in New York versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 12.925,00 (€ 14.428,44) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Alex Katz erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Blue Umbrella I im Oktober 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 3.375.000,00 (€ 3.914.757,96).
