Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Images of Ireland, 1965-72, Hyperion Press, 1979 by Alen MacWeeney was auctioned at Christies in London in May 2000, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 799.00 (€ 1,282.10). Other works by Alen MacWeeney have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in November 2013 by the work Amish Farm Boy, Penn., 1962 at EUR 1,750.00.
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Images of Ireland, 1965-72, Hyperion Press, 1979 von Alen MacWeeney im Mai 2000 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 1.000,00 – 1.500,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 799,00 (€ 1.282,10) den Besitzer. Andere Arbeiten von Alen MacWeeney wurden auch schon teurer gehandelt; den höchsten Preis, den wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachten konnten, erzielte im November 2013 die Arbeit Amish Farm Boy, Penn., 1962 mit EUR 1.750,00.
