This artwork by Aleksandr Evgen'evich Iakovlev achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in April 2008. In the Russian Art auction, the work Portrait of A Chinese Merchant sold for USD 325,000.00 (€ 208,761.56) - well above the upper estimate of USD 160,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Aleksandr Evgen'evich Iakovlev achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Vasilii Shukhaev In His Studio in June 2007 with an auction result of GBP 2,820,000.00 (€ 4,184,738.17).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Aleksandr Evgen'evich Iakovlev erzielte im April 2008 bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Russian Art wurde die Arbeit Portrait of A Chinese Merchant für USD 325.000,00 (€ 208.761,56) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 160.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Aleksandr Evgen'evich Iakovlev erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait of Vasilii Shukhaev In His Studio im Juni 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 2.820.000,00 (€ 4.184.738,17).
