Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Australian river Gum And Mount Gillen by Albert Namatjira was sold in the Important Australian Art auction at Sothebys in Melbourne in August 2008. The price achieved of AUD 30,000.00 (€ 17,512.44) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as AUD 25,000.00 – 35,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Albert Namatjira - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Mt Sonder, MacDonnell Ranges, which sold at auction in April this year for AUD 92,250.00 (€ 55,291.51).
