Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In November 2007 Sothebys in Sydney held the auction Important Australian Art, which included the work Australian Ghost Gum, Macdonnell Ranges by Albert Namatjira. Here, the upper estimate of AUD 40,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for AUD 40,800.00 (€ 24,577.78). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Albert Namatjira - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Mt Sonder, MacDonnell Ranges, which sold at auction in April this year for AUD 92,250.00 (€ 55,291.51).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im November 2007 führte Sothebys in Sydney die Auktion Important Australian Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Australian Ghost Gum, Macdonnell Ranges von Albert Namatjira zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von AUD 40.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für AUD 40.800,00 (€ 24.577,78) einen neuen Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Albert Namatjira mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Mt Sonder, MacDonnell Ranges beobachtet, die im April diesen Jahres für AUD 92.250,00 (€ 55.291,51) versteigert wurde.
