In November 2010 Sothebys in London held the auction 19th Century European Paintings Including Spanish Painting, The Orientalist Sale, and German, Austrian, Scandinavian and Symbolist Works, which included the work German the Barber'S Shop by Albert Joseph Franke. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 28,750.00 (€ 34,356.21), 60% above the upper estimate. This high result makes German the Barber'S Shop the most expensive artwork by Albert Joseph Franke that we have observed at auctions so far.
