Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Clovelly by Albert Goodwin was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in September 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 2,772.00 (€ 2,394.40). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Albert Goodwin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A View of Benares From The Ganga River With The Great Mosque of Auranzeb, The Vishwanath Temple And Manikarnika Ghat Behind in April 2006 with an auction result of USD 192,000.00 (€ 152,091.25).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Clovelly von Albert Goodwin im September 2021 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 2.772,00 (€ 2.394,40) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Albert Goodwin erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A View of Benares From The Ganga River With The Great Mosque of Auranzeb, The Vishwanath Temple And Manikarnika Ghat Behind im April 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 192.000,00 (€ 152.091,25).
