This work is included in the database being compiled for her forthcoming catalogue raisonné of the artist's work.
Auction result well in line with expectations
The work South Dome, Yosemite Valley, California by Albert Bierstadt was sold in the 19th Century American & Western Art auction at Christies in New York in January 2024. It changed hands for a price of USD 655,200.00 (€ 572,627.16) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 500,000.00 – 700,000.00. Admittedly, works by Albert Bierstadt have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Indians Spear Fishing in May 2008 with an auction result of USD 7,321,000.00 (€ 4,705,012.85).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit South Dome, Yosemite Valley, California von Albert Bierstadt wurde im Januar 2024 in der Auktion 19th Century American & Western Art bei Christies in New York versteigert. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von USD 655.200,00 (€ 572.627,16) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 500.000,00 – 700.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Albert Bierstadt auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Indians Spear Fishing im Mai 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 7.321.000,00 (€ 4.705.012,85).
