In January this year Christies in New York held the auction 19th Century American Art, which included the work Clear Lake, California by Albert Bierstadt. The »bidding war« ended at USD 56,700.00 (€ 52,219.56), 62% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Albert Bierstadt achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Indians Spear Fishing in May 2008 with an auction result of USD 7,321,000.00 (€ 4,705,012.85).

Im Januar diesen Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion 19th Century American Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Clear Lake, California von Albert Bierstadt zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 56.700,00 (€ 52.219,56) und damit 62% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Albert Bierstadt erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Indians Spear Fishing im Mai 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 7.321.000,00 (€ 4.705.012,85).
