This artwork by Aert Schouman achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in July 2018. In the Old Master & British Works on Paper auction, the work A Female Mandrill (Mandrillus Sphinx) sold for GBP 4,375.00 (€ 4,905.34) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 2,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Aert Schouman achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Helmeted Guinea Fowl And A Black Headed Caïque On A Branch; And A Red Ibis And A Victoria Crowned Pigeon in January 2014 with an auction result of USD 137,000.00 (€ 101,481.48).
