Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Towing Out At Dusk; And The Anchorage At Dawn by Adolphus Knell was auctioned at Christies in London in March 2005. It changed hands for a price of GBP 1,440.00 (€ 2,097.21) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. Admittedly, works by Adolphus Knell have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A fresh breeze in the Channel; and Evening after a squall off the Cornish coast in May 2001 with an auction result of GBP 5,287.50 (€ 8,864.61).

Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 1.440,00 (€ 2.097,21) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 1.000,00 – 1.500,00.
