In April this year Bonhams held the auction The Marine Sale, which included the work Shipping at moonlight; Early morning shipping, a pair by Adolphus Knell. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,785.00 (€ 2,034.32), 49% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Adolphus Knell have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A fresh breeze in the Channel; and Evening after a squall off the Cornish coast in May 2001 with an auction result of GBP 5,287.50 (€ 8,864.61).

Im April diesen Jahres führte Bonhams die Auktion The Marine Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Shipping at moonlight; Early morning shipping, a pair von Adolphus Knell zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.785,00 (€ 2.034,32) und damit 49% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Adolphus Knell auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A fresh breeze in the Channel; and Evening after a squall off the Cornish coast im Mai 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 5.287,50 (€ 8.864,61).
