Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In October 2021 Bonhams in London held the auction The Marine Sale, which included the work Sailing ships and a steamer in choppy waters by Adolphus Knell. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 1,200.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 1,275.00 (€ 1,510.53). Admittedly, works by Adolphus Knell have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A fresh breeze in the Channel; and Evening after a squall off the Cornish coast in May 2001 with an auction result of GBP 5,287.50 (€ 8,864.61).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Oktober 2021 führte Bonhams in London die Auktion The Marine Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Sailing ships and a steamer in choppy waters von Adolphus Knell zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 1.200,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 1.275,00 (€ 1.510,53) einen neuen Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Adolphus Knell auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A fresh breeze in the Channel; and Evening after a squall off the Cornish coast im Mai 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 5.287,50 (€ 8.864,61).
