Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work The Flagship At Dusk by Adolphus Knell was sold in the MARITIME PICTURES auction at Christies in London in November 2005. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 1,200.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 1,320.00 (€ 1,939.25). Admittedly, works by Adolphus Knell have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A fresh breeze in the Channel; and Evening after a squall off the Cornish coast in May 2001 with an auction result of GBP 5,287.50 (€ 8,864.61).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit The Flagship At Dusk von Adolphus Knell wurde im November 2005 in der Auktion MARITIME PICTURES bei Christies in London versteigert. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 1.200,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 1.320,00 (€ 1.939,25) einen neuen Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Adolphus Knell auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A fresh breeze in the Channel; and Evening after a squall off the Cornish coast im Mai 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 5.287,50 (€ 8.864,61).
