In November 2004 Christies in London held the auction MARITIME AND NAVAL BATTLES (PICTURES), which included the work Fishermen Unloading At Dusk, With A Frigate At Anchor Beyond by Adolphus Knell. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,792.50 (€ 2,578.50), 49% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Adolphus Knell - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A fresh breeze in the Channel; and Evening after a squall off the Cornish coast, which sold at auction in May 2001 for GBP 5,287.50 (€ 8,864.61).

Im November 2004 führte Christies in London die Auktion MARITIME AND NAVAL BATTLES (PICTURES) durch, in der auch die Arbeit Fishermen Unloading At Dusk, With A Frigate At Anchor Beyond von Adolphus Knell zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.792,50 (€ 2.578,50) und damit 49% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Adolphus Knell mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit A fresh breeze in the Channel; and Evening after a squall off the Cornish coast beobachtet, die im Mai 2001 für GBP 5.287,50 (€ 8.864,61) versteigert wurde.
