In December 2014 Sothebys in Zurich held the auction Schweizer Kunst / Swiss Art, which included the work Sitzende Figur Mit Krone Und Maske Im Oval by Adolf Wölfli. The auction ended at the price of CHF 15,000.00 (€ 12,477.48), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of CHF 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Adolf Wölfli achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Der San Salvathor in October 2018 with an auction result of USD 795,000.00 (€ 701,553.12).

Im Dezember 2014 führte Sothebys in Zürich die Auktion Schweizer Kunst / Swiss Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Sitzende Figur Mit Krone Und Maske Im Oval von Adolf Wölfli zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von CHF 15.000,00 (€ 12.477,48) entsprach exakt dem oberen Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von CHF 10.000,00 – 15.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Adolf Wölfli erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Der San Salvathor im Oktober 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 795.000,00 (€ 701.553,12).
