This artwork by Abram Arkhipov achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in November 2008. In the Russian Pictures Including Post-War and Contemporary Art Part II auction, the work A peasant woman in a red shawl sold for GBP 553,250.00 (€ 668,920.83) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 200,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Abram Arkhipov; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Peasant Woman In A Red Dress sold at auction in December 2015 with the realized price of GBP 905,000.00 (€ 1,228,946.50).
