Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Still Life Of A Bunch Of Grapes Hanging From A Twig, Pomegranates, Peaches, A Melon And A Salamander, All In A Landscape by Abraham Brueghel was sold in the Master Paintings & Sculpture Day Sale auction at Sothebys in New York in January 2017. The price achieved of USD 62,500.00 (€ 57,902.54) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 50,000.00 – 70,000.00. Admittedly, works by Abraham Brueghel have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A watermelon, cherries, peaches, apricots, plums, pomegranate and figs with lilies, roses, morning glory and other flowers on an acanthus stone relief, a mountainous landscape beyond in December 2005 with an auction result of GBP 276,800.00 (€ 401,759.70).
