In June last year Christies in New York held the auction Old Masters: No Reserves, which included the work Roses In A Garden With A Sculpted Plinth by Abraham Brueghel. The »bidding war« ended at USD 21,420.00 (€ 20,460.41), 43% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Abraham Brueghel achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A watermelon, cherries, peaches, apricots, plums, pomegranate and figs with lilies, roses, morning glory and other flowers on an acanthus stone relief, a mountainous landscape beyond in December 2005 with an auction result of GBP 276,800.00 (€ 401,759.70).

Im Juni letzten Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion Old Masters: No Reserves durch, in der auch die Arbeit Roses In A Garden With A Sculpted Plinth von Abraham Brueghel zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 21.420,00 (€ 20.460,41) und damit 43% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Abraham Brueghel erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A watermelon, cherries, peaches, apricots, plums, pomegranate and figs with lilies, roses, morning glory and other flowers on an acanthus stone relief, a mountainous landscape beyond im Dezember 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 276.800,00 (€ 401.759,70).
