In July 2007 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Master Paintings Evening, which included the work A Still Life With A Girl And Putto Adorning A Sculpted Urn With A Garland Of Flowers (Spring); A Still Life Of Pomegranates, Melons, Pears, Plums And Morning Glory, With A Gardener Picking Grapes From A Vine (Autumn) by Abraham Brueghel. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 180,000.00 (€ 267,341.55), 20% above the upper estimate. Other works by Abraham Brueghel have achieved even higher prices, we observed the highest auction result so far of GBP 276,800.00 (€ 401,759.70) in December 2005 for the work A watermelon, cherries, peaches, apricots, plums, pomegranate and figs with lilies, roses, morning glory and other flowers on an acanthus stone relief, a mountainous landscape beyond.
