French artist Catherine Lupis Thomas explores cities on foot or by bike, photographing what catches her eye and what inspires her. The photographs form the basis for her further work: with pieces of posters and billboards collected in the streets, she humorously adds new, sometimes surreal perspectives to the photographed cityscapes. Her works are also an expression of the emotions she felt during the process. Lupis Thomas' unique collage technique explores urbanity in its entirety, from backyards, ruins and train stations to renewal and the energy of city life. The artist's process is open-minded, spontaneous, engaging with the experiences that different cities around the world offer her. Around 20 of her works, both older and newer, can be seen from September 12 to October 18 in the exhibition The Urban Wanderer at the Berlin gallery Beyond. Reality.

In a way, Berlin was the catalyst for Lupis Thomas' artistic career. During a visit to the city in the 1990s, she was so fascinated that she wanted to give her life a different direction and ultimately became a self-taught artist. In addition to Berlin, Lupis Thomas, who participates in the Art.Salon artist program, has also roamed London, Paris, Venice, Hanoi, New York and Los Angeles. When she explores a city for the first time, she feels like a child taking its first steps, the artist describes her experiences.Art.Salon

London, Tate Britain

It was one of the most moving decades in the history of the United Kingdom: the 1980s, characterized by strikes, protests and AIDS. Photographers documented this period and in some cases became political activists themselves through their images. The exhibition The 80s: Photographing Britain opens on November 21 at the Tate Britain in London.

Guido Klumpe

It is in the context of functional architecture in urban spaces that Guido Klumpe finds the motifs that he stages with his camera as the poetry of the profane. His picturesque images unfold an opulent effect with a reduced formal language, showing us the beauty of the moment in the flow of everyday life.
