First edition of the Affordable Art Fair in Berlin

The Affordable Art Fair continues its success story

The Affordable Art Fair is coming to Berlin: on April 11, the first edition of the art fair will open at its newest location. With its extensive supporting program and the works of art presented by 50 galleries, it is a must for art lovers.

The success of the concept speaks for itself: a fair with a price limit for works of art is enthusiastically received worldwide. The contemporary works presented can cost between €100 and €10,000. Since the first Affordable Art Fair opened in London in 1999, editions have been held regularly in New York, Sydney, Vienna and Singapore, among others. Berlin is now the 15th location, the second in Germany after Hamburg. 50 national and international galleries will take part in the premiere, which will take place in the Arena Berlin from April 11 to 14.

Visitors don't have to do without anything at the new location: A broad accompanying program appeals to those interested in art who would like to be introduced to the contents of the fair. Every day at 3 p.m., the organizers offer public guided tours that provide background information on many works of art. On April 12, there will also be two themed tours: Fair Manager Hannah Weber-Heidenfels will introduce the Emerging Artists, who all live and work in Berlin: Jana Schumacher, Jonas Büßecker, Nina Kuttler and Viktor Petrov. The theme of this year's exhibition is Tensions. The other guided tour will be on the subject of Art under €500 and will be led by Fair Director Oliver Lähndorf.

In addition to the usual programme items, the organizers are always trying out new ideas that quickly become established. Last year saw the launch of the Under €1,000 Wall, which was received with great interest and can also be found at the first Berlin edition. Selected low-priced works of art are clearly displayed here independently of the gallery stands.Art.Salon

London, Tate Britain

It was one of the most moving decades in the history of the United Kingdom: the 1980s, characterized by strikes, protests and AIDS. Photographers documented this period and in some cases became political activists themselves through their images. The exhibition The 80s: Photographing Britain opens on November 21 at the Tate Britain in London.
