What must society not forget? With her works, artist Gaby Kutz keeps the memory of important events and people alive. Taking well-known press images as her starting point, her artistic interpretation enables a new approach: Kutz gives the images back their original power and meaning, of which they have lost something in the flood of media images. In the exhibition memorial engraving, she is showing a selection of works created between 2015 and 2025 that belong to various series. These include portraits of famous personalities such as women's rights activist Nawal El Saadawi and resistance fighter Sophie Scholl, works on the GDR from the memorandum series and images from the Destroyed series on the flood disaster of 2021, in which the artist's studio was also devastated. The exhibition runs from April 6 to July 20 and will be shown in the gallery of the Studio Theater Theatrino in Rocherath, Belgium. The gallery is always open on Saturdays and Sundays from 2 pm to 7 pm, further viewing appointments are possible by appointment.

Gaby Kutz has been working as a freelance artist since 1994 and participates in the Art.Salon artist program. She paints her large-format paintings in the traditional way: Layer by layer, the artist develops her works first with egg tempera, then with oil paints. This method is very time-consuming and always requires long drying phases, so that Kutz needs several months to complete a painting. Her works have been shown in numerous solo and group exhibitions and have been presented at art fairs in Cologne, Lucca and Paris, among others.Art.Salon
