On 27 November 2021, two exciting exhibitions will open at the Museum moderner Kunst Stiftung Ludwig Wien (mumok for short) dealing with the works of the artists Wolfgang Tillmans (*1968) and Huang Po-Chih (*1980). The latter has been in the limelight for some time now, especially with his participatory contributions aimed at social exchange. The exhibition Huang Po-Chih. Blue Elephant in Vienna is the first solo show of the Taiwanese artist outside Asia. The focus is on Po-Chih's multi-part series of works Production Line - Made in China & Made in Taiwan (2014-20), which in turn is based on his essay Blue Skin: Mama's Story (2011-13). In it, the artist explores his mother's changing working life, looking at the rise and fall of textile production in Taiwan and its gradual outsourcing. Until 27 February 2022, interested visitors can get an idea of what it's like. However, due to a nationwide lockdown imposed to contain the Covid19 pandemic, the mumok will not reopen until 14 December 2021.

The German photographer and artist Wolfgang Tilmanns deals with the view of the world and its social conditions. His works are dedicated to people, landscapes, bodies, architecture, objects or in short: his environment, which he observes closely for this purpose. Until 24 April 2022 in Wolfgang Tillmans. Schall ist flüssig (Sound is Liquid), the mumok is showing primarily his early photographs, which were taken in the artist's pop-cultural environment in the 1990s. Also on display are abstract images, high-resolution shots of the reality of the early 21st century shaped by globalisation and digitalisation, and photographs taken both shortly before and during the Corona pandemic. In addition, the two-channel video installation Book for Architects will be presented, as well as a variety of new music and video works. These newer works include Tillmans' recently released debut album Moon in Earthlight, which will be shown in a sound video installation in the exhibition space. However, due to the aforementioned nationwide lockdown imposed to contain the Covid19 pandemic, the exhibition cannot be viewed until 14 December 2021.

Huang Po-Chih was born in Taoyuan, Taiwan in 1980 and studied at the Taipei National University of the Arts in Taiwan. He is part of a generation of artists who grew up with democratic reforms and high economic growth in Taiwan. In his work, Huang Po-Chih analyses fundamental mechanisms of global capitalism. His multidisciplinary practice reflects Taiwan's changing discourse on identity in recent decades. Today, Po-Chih lives and works in Hsinchu, Taiwan.

Born in Remscheid on 16 August 1968, Wolfgang Tillmans studied at Bournemouth & Poole College of Art and Design and was the first photographer and non-British artist to receive the Turner Prize in 2000. In his photographs, installations, videos and music, he tests the limits of the visible, revealing different possibilities of perception and subtly trying to give insight into the fundamentals of human interaction and desire. His works are about the will to community, exchange, self-reflection and overcoming rigid (aggregate) states. The Museum of Modern Art in New York City is planning a comprehensive retrospective of Tillmans' work for 2022.Art.Salon

First bronze sculptures by Mathias Kadolph

The lively, dynamic and concentrated formal language of sculptor Mathias Kadolph has so far manifested itself primarily through his material, wood. Now, for the first time, he has had miniatures cast in bronze in an edition of twelve sculptures each. These convey essential impressions of his formal ideas and open up to new impulses for our perception.
