Even though the + is now missing from the name, the fair is not lacking in growth: 195 galleries are gathering at Art Basel Paris this year, which previously bore the name Paris+ par Art Basel. That's an increase of almost a third: the fair has only existed since 2022, but is living up to expectations as one of the most important art fairs in the world, even if in 2023 it was criticized that the Parisian flair was sacrificed for a one-size-fits-all Art Basel look. In addition to the artworks in the Grand Palais, the fair presents monumental installations and sculptures at several locations in Paris and a special project called Tales & Tellers at the Palais d'lèna, which was created in collaboration with the fashion brand Miu Miu. Art Basel Paris runs from October 18 to 20, with VIP Preview Days on October 16 and 17.

The new sections include Premise and Oh La La!. In the former, nine selected galleries present curated exhibitions that also include works of art from before 1900. The latter is an initiative that aims to bring greater attention to rarely exhibited works of art. On Friday, October 18, and Saturday, October 19, there will be the opportunity to see several dozen rarely shown paintings, sculptures, drawings and digital artworks.Art.Salon

Dive deeper into the art world

London, Tate Britain

It was one of the most moving decades in the history of the United Kingdom: the 1980s, characterized by strikes, protests and AIDS. Photographers documented this period and in some cases became political activists themselves through their images. The exhibition The 80s: Photographing Britain opens on November 21 at the Tate Britain in London.

Guido Klumpe

It is in the context of functional architecture in urban spaces that Guido Klumpe finds the motifs that he stages with his camera as the poetry of the profane. His picturesque images unfold an opulent effect with a reduced formal language, showing us the beauty of the moment in the flow of everyday life.
