Her paintings, dominated by lines, appear rigid at first glance, but only on closer inspection do they prove to be dynamic: the artist Anja Mamero's lines vary in width, overlap and are crossed by diagonals. In this way, strict order is transformed into color gradients and lively surfaces. In the series Behind the curtain, Mamero processes important childhood memories in the form of figures that become visible behind the lines. By superimposing them, the artist depicts the fragmentary nature of her memories.

In her exhibition tracing lines, new and older works from this series can be seen, as well as Mamero's first experimental exploration of film. Based on shadows and shadow progressions, which she has been capturing photographically for some time, she created new black and white paintings dominated by lines or grids. In elaborate processes, Mamero transferred the patterns into moving light and shadow installations, which she filmed. The films, set to an audio track, are projected onto the corresponding paintings in the exhibition: The static images are overlaid with dynamic versions of themselves, developing new structures and interstices. The artist's exploration of the new medium in turn led to a static image that incorporates the transparent effects of the image projection: tracing lines three, which can be seen below.

The vernissage of the show tracing lines will take place on November 7 at 6 pm at the Bunker-D gallery in Kiel, where it will be on display until December 20. Markus Schack, Head of the Centre for Cultural and Scientific Communication at Kiel University of Applied Sciences, and Dr. Peter Kruska, Director of Stadtgalerie Kiel, will speak at the opening.Art.Salon

First bronze sculptures by Mathias Kadolph

The lively, dynamic and concentrated formal language of sculptor Mathias Kadolph has so far manifested itself primarily through his material, wood. Now, for the first time, he has had miniatures cast in bronze in an edition of twelve sculptures each. These convey essential impressions of his formal ideas and open up to new impulses for our perception.
