Ninth POSITIONS Berlin Art Fair opens

Hard decision at debut award

Around 7,000 guests strolled, marveled, bargained and networked yesterday at the opening of the ninth POSITIONS Berlin Art Fair. The following party on the tarmac of Tempelhof Airport then ushered in the weekend. Besides many successful sales, the jury had a hard time with the debut of the Zilkens Best Booth Award.

About 7000 visitors counted the POSITIONS Berlin Art Fair on the opening day.

Yesterday the ninth Positions Berlin Art Fair kicked off. After the first day of the fair, the organizer counted around 7000 visitors in Hangars 5 and 6 at the disused Tempelhof Airport in Berlin. The 88 international galleries from 20 countries present their contemporary art until Sunday (September 18). For quick collectors, the early visit was worthwhile: »Several works« had already passed into private and public collections during the preview and the evening opening ceremony. Following the opening of the fair, the public and participants celebrated until late in the evening to music by DJane Speedy on the covered tarmac. Those who still have their visit ahead of them can look forward to an extensive supporting program.

One of the program items already took place yesterday: POSITIONS Berlin Art Fair, together with its partner Zilkens Fine Art Switzerland, presented the Zilkens Best Booth Award for the first time this year. It honors galleries that shine with their special curatorial approach. It must have been hard for the jury, because in the end they crowned two galleries with the award: Ivan Gallery (Hangar 6, Booth B13) and Anca Poterașu Gallery (Hangar 6, Booth B11) can now call themselves award debutants.

By the way, Positions Berlin Art Fair is also an official partner of Berlin Art Week, which takes place in parallel this weekend. A visit is worthwhile: major Berlin museums such as the Berlinische Galerie, the Gropius Bau or the Hamburger Bahnhof will open selected exhibitions during the four days. Art.Salon
