Only traces of humans are left: The artworks of Italian Tatiana Trouvé (b. 1968) are created using an ancient mnemonic technique and combine drawing and sculpture. Architectural structures, landscapes, and furniture are on view; the absence of people lends the works a dreamlike atmosphere. The Centre Pompidou opens the exhibition Tatiana Trouvé: The Great Atlas of Disorientation on June 8, featuring numerous works by the artist. Among them are 65 drawings of newspaper front pages from the series From March to May, created between March and May 2020.
At the same time, visitors can explore the exhibition The rest is shadow: Pedro Costa, Rui Chafes, Paulo Nozolino. The three Portuguese artists have been working together for years on a dialogue between film, sculpture and photography. They present at Centre Pompidou an immersive exhibition about a reduced world made of shadows, tears and cruelty. Historical influences of their home country are clearly visible: as young men, the three artists experienced the end of the dictatorship, the Carnation Revolution and the beginning of democracy in 1974.
Both exhibitions run until August 22, 2022.
