Andy Warhol's Marilyn portraits are considered the pinnacle of American Pop Art, combining the American Dream with optimism and fragility. One of the rarest of the series is Shot Sage Blue Marilyn from 1964, which will be auctioned at Christie's in May. The estimated price for the Andy Warhol silkscreen is about $200 million − which would make it the most expensive work of art from the 20th century.

The work comes from the Thomas and Doris Ammann Foundation in Zurich, two Swiss art dealers who were friends of Warhol. All proceeds from the sale will go to the foundation, which works to improve the lives of children around the world. It does this by establishing support systems with health and education programs.Art.Salon

It was one of the most moving decades in the history of the United Kingdom: the 1980s, characterized by strikes, protests and AIDS. Photographers documented this period and in some cases became political activists themselves through their images. The exhibition The 80s: Photographing Britain opens on November 21 at the Tate Britain in London.
