The Summer Exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts in London is considered a highlight of the art year. It has been held annually since 1769 to help fund the education of young artists at the Academy. As a result, most of the 1,200 works of art on display are for sale again this year. Sculptor and Academy member Alison Wilding is coordinating the 2022 show and chose climate as the overarching theme. Art enthusiasts and collectors are welcomed to the exhibition from June 21 through August 21.

From the 15,000 submissions, 1200 works in a wide variety of media were democratically selected. The Summer Exhibition is thus the largest open submission art show for contemporary art. Visitors this year will also find exhibits by newly elected Academy members Michael Armitage, Peter Barber and Ryan Gander, as well as new honorary member Pipilotti Rist. Other artists include Clara Hastrup, Tam Joseph, Kathleen Ryan, Simon Starling, Gavin Turk, Denilson Baniwa, Sallisa Rosa and Jerilea Zempel.Art.Salon

Till Schermer

Is our personality just an illusion? Till Schermer's paintings open up a new perspective on the fragmented human psyche. In intense, sometimes disturbing images, the artist presents the protagonists of our mental society - perhaps the start of an adventure for one's own mind.
