Upper estimate price exceeded by 41 %.
The work Seven-character Poem in Running Script by Zhang Zhao was sold in the Fine Chinese Classical Paintings and Calligraphy auction at Christies in Hong Kong in May 2014. The »bidding war« ended at HKD 112,500.00 (€ 10,639.66), 41% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Zhang Zhao achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Calligraphy after Mi Fu in November 2011 with an auction result of HKD 17,460,000.00 (€ 1,670,335.24).
