Sold at the upper estimate price
In April 2017 Sothebys in Hong Kong held the auction Fine Classical Chinese Paintings, which included the work Calligraphy In Running Script by Zhang Zhao. The auction ended at the price of HKD 30,000.00 (€ 3,541.07), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of HKD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Zhang Zhao achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Calligraphy after Mi Fu in November 2011 with an auction result of HKD 17,460,000.00 (€ 1,670,335.24).
