A top price for Zhang Yuanji
This artwork by Zhang Yuanji achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in Hong Kong in October 2017. In the Fine Chinese Paintings auction, the work Calligraphy Couplet In Kaishu sold for HKD 162,500.00 (€ 17,885.04) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 80,000.00. This high result makes Calligraphy Couplet In Kaishu the most expensive artwork by Zhang Yuanji that we have observed at auctions so far.
