Artwork auctioned at four times the upper estimate price
When the work Calligraphy in Clerical Script by Zhang Binglin was auctioned at China Guardian in Hong Kong in October 2013, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - HKD 80,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than four times as high at HKD 345,000.00 (€ 32,738.71). Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Zhang Binglin; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Calligraphy In Jingwen sold at auction in October 2011 with the realized price of HKD 375,000.00 (€ 34,631.10).
Kunstwerk zum Vierfachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Calligraphy in Clerical Script von Zhang Binglin im Oktober 2013 bei China Guardian in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – HKD 80.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit HKD 345.000,00 (€ 32.738,71) mehr als viermal so hoch. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Zhang Binglin; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Calligraphy In Jingwen im Oktober 2011 mit dem Hammerpreis von HKD 375.000,00 (€ 34.631,10).
