In November last year Bonhams in London held the auction Modern and Contemporary Middle Eastern Art including Baghdadiyat Part IIIThe Finale, which included the work A demonstration in the Faculty of Commerce, Cairo University by Zeinab Abd El Hamid. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 20,400.00 (€ 23,638.94), 70% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Zeinab Abd El Hamid - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Quartier Populaire, which sold at auction in March 2018 for USD 58,750.00 (€ 47,686.69).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 70 % übertroffen
Im November letzten Jahres führte Bonhams in London die Auktion Modern and Contemporary Middle Eastern Art including Baghdadiyat Part IIIThe Finale durch, in der auch die Arbeit A demonstration in the Faculty of Commerce, Cairo University von Zeinab Abd El Hamid zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 20.400,00 (€ 23.638,94) und damit 70% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Zeinab Abd El Hamid mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Quartier Populaire beobachtet, die im März 2018 für USD 58.750,00 (€ 47.686,69) versteigert wurde.
