In April this year Phillips in New York held the auction Photographs, which included the work Buhlalu I, The Decks, Cape Town by Zanele Muholi. The »bidding war« ended at USD 31,750.00 (€ 28,759.06), 59% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Zanele Muholi; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Alakhe sold at auction in December last year with the realized price of GBP 35,280.00 (€ 39,827.68).

Im April diesen Jahres führte Phillips in New York die Auktion Photographs durch, in der auch die Arbeit Buhlalu I, The Decks, Cape Town von Zanele Muholi zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 31.750,00 (€ 28.759,06) und damit 59% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Zanele Muholi; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Alakhe im Dezember letzten Jahres mit dem Hammerpreis von GBP 35.280,00 (€ 39.827,68).
