Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Yong Xing achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Paris in June this year. In the Fine Chinese Classical Paintings and Calligraphy auction, the work Seven-character Calligraphic Couplet sold for HKD 239,400.00 (€ 27,973.85) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 80,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Yong Xing achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Calligraphy After The Chunhua Ge Tie in November 2005 with an auction result of HKD 2,584,000.00 (€ 282,727.74).
