Six collector’s seals: four of Zhang Keyuan (1862-1930) and two of Sun Zutong (1888-1940)

A top price for Xie Shichen
In May last year Christies in Hong Kong held the auction Fine Chinese Classical Paintings and Calligraphy, which included the work Scholarly Gathering till Twilight by Xie Shichen. Here, the upper estimate of HKD 10,000,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for HKD 10,050,000.00 (€ 1,193,150.68). With this result, Scholarly Gathering till Twilight is even the most expensive work of art by Xie Shichen that we have observed at auctions so far.

Im Mai letzten Jahres führte Christies in Hong Kong die Auktion Fine Chinese Classical Paintings and Calligraphy durch, in der auch die Arbeit Scholarly Gathering till Twilight von Xie Shichen zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von HKD 10.000.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für HKD 10.050.000,00 (€ 1.193.150,68) einen neuen Besitzer. Mit diesem Ergebnis ist Scholarly Gathering till Twilight sogar das teuerste Kunstwerk von Xie Shichen, das wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachtet haben.
