Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Landscape After Wang Meng by Xie Shichen was sold in the Fine Classical Chinese Paintings and Cal auction at Sothebys in New York in September 2013. It changed hands for a price of USD 75,000.00 (€ 55,411.90) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 60,000.00 – 80,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Xie Shichen achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Scholarly Gathering till Twilight in May last year with an auction result of HKD 10,050,000.00 (€ 1,193,150.68).
