Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2020 Christies in Hong Kong held the auction Fine Chinese Classical Paintings and Calligraphy, which included the work Riverscape after Rain by Xia Chang. It changed hands for a price of HKD 750,000.00 (€ 82,172.58) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of HKD 600,000.00 – 800,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Xia Chang achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Xiaoxue In Small Standard Script Calligraphy in November 2005 with an auction result of HKD 15,240,000.00 (€ 1,667,480.92).
