Artwork auctioned at four times the upper estimate price
When the work Ink Bamboos by Xia Chang was auctioned at Sothebys in Hong Kong in December 2021, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - HKD 50,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than four times as high at HKD 239,400.00 (€ 27,117.05). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Xia Chang achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Xiaoxue In Small Standard Script Calligraphy in November 2005 with an auction result of HKD 15,240,000.00 (€ 1,667,480.92).
Kunstwerk zum Vierfachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Ink Bamboos von Xia Chang im Dezember 2021 bei Sothebys in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – HKD 50.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit HKD 239.400,00 (€ 27.117,05) mehr als viermal so hoch. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Xia Chang erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Xiaoxue In Small Standard Script Calligraphy im November 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 15.240.000,00 (€ 1.667.480,92).
