A set of six hanging scrolls, ink on paper, comprising a poem by Yan Yanzhi (384-456), inscribed with a dedication to Bianqing, signed Wu Rangzhi with two artist's seals Xizai zhiyin and Wu shi Rangzhi.

Auction result well in line with expectations
In March last year Bonhams in New York held the auction The Reverend Richard Fabian Collection of Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy, Part IV, which included the work Calligraphy in Small Seal Script by Wu Xizai. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 12,000.00 – 18,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 12,112.50 (€ 10,919.05) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Wu Xizai achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Calligraphy In Seal Script in October 2014 with an auction result of HKD 3,776,000.00 (€ 388,750.20).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im März letzten Jahres führte Bonhams in New York die Auktion The Reverend Richard Fabian Collection of Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy, Part IV durch, in der auch die Arbeit Calligraphy in Small Seal Script von Wu Xizai zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 12.000,00 – 18.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 12.112,50 (€ 10.919,05) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Wu Xizai erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Calligraphy In Seal Script im Oktober 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 3.776.000,00 (€ 388.750,20).
