In November 2011 Christies in London held the auction Old Masters and 19th Century Art, which included the work Fishermen in rowing boats near the Kleine Houtpoort, Haarlem; and A river landscape with a romanesque church and a walled town by Wouter Knijff. The price achieved of EUR 27,400.00 was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as EUR 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Fishermen in rowing boats near the Kleine Houtpoort, Haarlem; and A river landscape with a romanesque church and a walled town is the most expensive artwork by Wouter Knijff that we have observed at auctions so far.
