Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2009 Christies in Amsterdam held the auction Old Master and 19th Century Art, which included the work A fortified town by a river with figures in boats by Wouter Knijff. The price achieved of EUR 8,125.00 was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as EUR 7,000.00 – 10,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Wouter Knijff - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Fishermen in rowing boats near the Kleine Houtpoort, Haarlem; and A river landscape with a romanesque church and a walled town, which sold at auction in November 2011 for EUR 27,400.00.
