Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Wole Lagunju achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in London in March 2021. In the Modern & Contemporary African Art auction, the work Kaaro Ojire Oshogbo (I greet my spirits) sold for GBP 14,000.00 (€ 16,446.39) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 5,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Wole Lagunju; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Flower Power Mask III sold at auction in November 2021 with the realized price of GBP 27,720.00 (€ 32,545.89).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Wole Lagunju erzielte im März 2021 bei Bonhams in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Modern & Contemporary African Art wurde die Arbeit Kaaro Ojire Oshogbo (I greet my spirits) für GBP 14.000,00 (€ 16.446,39) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 5.000,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Wole Lagunju; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Flower Power Mask III im November 2021 mit dem Hammerpreis von GBP 27.720,00 (€ 32.545,89).
