Auction result well in line with expectations
The work 'Moonlight - Mouth of the Medway'; and A coastal scene at sunrise, a pair each 25.4 x 41cm (10 x 16 1/8in). (2) by William Thornley was auctioned at Bonhams in London in November 2020. The price achieved of GBP 1,530.00 (€ 1,708.00) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,200.00 – 1,800.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Thornley achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Moonlit Docks; Sunset On The Banks in December 2006 with an auction result of GBP 12,600.00 (€ 18,699.98).
