This artwork by William T. Wiley achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in Los Angeles in September 2021. In the Post-War & Contemporary Art X Made in California auction, the work Tension On The Cable, 1972 sold for USD 14,025.00 (€ 12,114.54) - well above the upper estimate of USD 5,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by William T. Wiley; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Ediface Complex, 1981 sold at auction in June 2020 with the realized price of USD 25,075.00 (€ 22,326.60).
